‘Married at First Sight’ star Michelle says David’s place was even "worse" than she’d imagined – Reality TV World

Married at First Sight star Michelle Tomblin has admitted that David Trimble’s living arrangement in his parents’ house was even “worse” than what she had imagined.

During Wednesday night’s episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, Michelle watched back a Season 18 clip that showed her touring David’s living situation in his parents’ basement for the first time.

“So now that you’ve seen my place and how I live, I mean, does that change anything?” David asks Michelle in the Married at First Sight footage.
David points out how the space is all his own, but Michelle doesn’t seem to care.
“I think it’s what I expected,” Michelle admits, to which David replies, “Okay,” in a deflated manner.
David proceeds to ask Michelle to share her original expectation of his living arrangement.

“That you live in your parents’ basement,” Michelle says with a bit of attitude.
“So you don’t consider this a studio apartment, like if somebody else lived upstairs and it wasn’t my parents?” David asks.
“But they’d come down here and do their laundry?” Michelle questions her new husband.
“Yeah, there are places like that,” David gently argues.
“So random people you don’t know would come down and do your laundry?” Michelle counters.
“Well, there are different types of living situations,” David insists.

Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam asked Michelle to share what was going through her mind in that moment.
“I don’t feel reassured after seeing the place. It might even be worse than what I expected,” Michelle confessed.
“I didn’t think it was going to be so fratboy,” she added.
Keshia pointed out how at least the space was all his own and separate from his parents, and Michelle agreed, “It was his own.”
Thomas — Camille’s husband who also appeared on the Afterparty episode — defended David and pointed out how single men tend to “live differently” than men in serious relationships.
“Do you have a kegerator?” Michelle quipped.
“I wish I did!” Thomas replied. “But, you know, there are going to be sports banners and memorabilia. There are things that we do as single people that once we’re in a relationship, it gets tossed out the window.”

When asked to share her greatest challenge in terms of moving forward in her marriage with David, Michelle confessed that she was in her own way.
“I need to get out of my own head. I think that’s how we move forward, is I have to, little by little, let my guard down and let him in a little bit,” Michelle explained.
Michelle also shared that she enjoyed seeing the photos of David with his family in his apartment.
“It made me realize how close he is with them and how much his family means to him,” Michelle noted.
“He went down memory lane. He has tons of photos of himself, and he was a child model. He showed me that, and he had that hanging up on his wall. It was very touching and cute to see how much those memories meant to him.”
Michelle explained on last week’s Afterparty episode what bothered her the most about the fact David still lived in his parents’ place.
“I’m not picking up on his future plans,” Michelle noted.
Michelle admitted she felt a lack of security due to David’s unique living situation and he wasn’t providing her with a solution or practical gameplan.
“I don’t know when he plans on moving out,” Michelle said, “and it doesn’t seem that there has been a lot of savings that he’s been doing in order to leave the parents’ house.”
Michelle suggested that her spouse’s financial situation and resources were important to her so that she could feel stability.
“My parents got divorced and I have no recollection of them ever actually being together, and I grew up in a very small town. I’m from Dunlap, Illinois. I grew up on a dirt road and we had ‘Drive Your Tractor to School Day,'” Michelle explained.
“So it was very rural, and we did struggle. My mom was a single mom and she worked several jobs, and my dad worked several jobs as well.”
